Activist Teesta Setalvad has been the most stridently shrill critic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She has stood up in court to fight communalism in the context of the Gujarat riots but few know that another court case most likely stares into her face as HRD committee report has made a sensational claim accusing Teesta Setalvad of spreading and promoting enmity between communities.
TIMES NOW has accessed writings in books published by Teesta’s NGO that reveal ‘inflammatory and divisive’ writing.
The Solicitor General of India has recommended filing charges against Teesta’s NGO under Section 153(A), for promoting enmity between groups on religious grounds and 153(B) for making assertions prejudicial to national integration. The note that has been submitted is presently with the HRD ministry.
Meanwhile, reacting to the news, Congress media cell chief Randeep Surjewala has called the charges against Teesta’s NGO preposterous and laughable, and stated that Narendra Modi government is targeting Teesta, her husband and her NGO as per their agenda.
He also added that the poisonous manner in which charges are being levelled against Teesta shows the vindictive approach of the BJP government.
