Two days after the communal clashes between two groups in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj that killed one and injured two others, crude bombs have been recovered from the residence of an accused.
Earlier today morning, a shop was put on fire marking the first violent incident in the UP town on Sunday.
Internet services of selected networks have been suspended in Kasganj while Section 144 continues to be in place.
UP DGP OP Singh, however, said that situation in Kasganj is under control.
“No incidents have taken place in the last few hours. A number of people were arrested. Patrolling has been intensified and our priority is to maintain law and order,” Singh said.
“We have identified a few behind this. There may be a conspiracy, but I do not know about it,” District Magistrate RP Singh said.
16-year-old Chandan Gupta was killed and two others were injured in Kasganj area on Friday at a Tiranga Rally taken out by VHP and ABVP workers on the occasion of Republic Day.
The motorbike rally led to communal tension in the area, wherein two groups pelted stones at each other. The rally was held on the Mathura-Bareilly highway.
