Why all good people(including aaj tak) fell for the fake fatwa tweet on Priya varrier

Priya Varrier took the internet by storm after her wink expressions went viral,it went so viral that her instagram grew over 600k followers in a single day.

After this internet sensation everything associated with the act, like the movie, song ,lyrics came under public scrutiny.

A group of Muslim youth from Hyderabad on Wednesday registered a complaint at Falaknuma Police Station against the actor and makers of ‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi’ — a song from her forthcoming Malayalam film debut oru adhar love — for allegedly hurting their sentiments.

The complainants said the lyrics were linked to the Prophet’s life. Earlier in the day, Syed Faiyaz, ACP, Falaknuma, said: “We received a complaint from a few men that the viral song’s lyrics is hurting the sentiments of Muslims. They have not submitted a video proof and we have asked them to provide us with the same. No FIR has been registered as yet.”

This was criticised by general public including muslims saying this is beyond stupidity as there was nothing objectionable in the lyrics or the actions as per the general public.

meanwhile a parody handle one step ahead and floated this news of fake fatwa. Just In : After the viral video of Priya Prakash Varrier, Whenever we or our fellow Muslim Brothers closed our eyes to offer Namaz, instead of Allah, her face would appear, which is hurting our sentiments, hence we issued a fatwa against her.” – Maulana Atif Qadri (File Pic) said the tweet

Many prominent twitter users retweeted that thinking it is from the real account and a real news. The same Maulana had issued ridiculous fatwas before , so no one doubted this as well. AAJ tak even ran a show based on this fake tweet.

Some of the radical islamists have opposed revealing pics of Dangal actress, mehandi ,nail polish and what not, and fatwas ‘re being issued for ridiculous reasons, in such an environment it is natural that people believed there could be such fatwa and fake news went viral.
