So, What has modi done to India , which is a very diverse country with various religions and cultures. Let us break down it into three broad areas:
As soon as Modi took over as PM, the priority was for uniting the gap between urban and rural india. Added millions of poor to banking sector via jan dhan scheme and Over the last five years, the direct benefit transfers made by the government to bank accounts have risen by 388%, according to a reply filed by the Ministry of Finance in the Lok Sabha.
Under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, over nine crore toilets have been constructed, coverage of rural sanitation that was less than 40 per cent in 2014 has increased to 98 per cent.
In the year after his election, an audit identified 18,452 villages without electricity, and Modi promised that every village would be electrified within 1,000 days. April 28, when Leisang, a tiny hamlet in the remote northeastern state of Manipur, was connected to the grid, was 988 days since that promise. Modi tweeted that it would be “remembered as a historic day in the development journey of India.”
Electrification united poorest of the poor, from remotest of the remote places with the main stream. Their social life improved with access to TV and internet
There were lot of speculations and fear mongering before modi took over as to there would be rise of communal-ism in the country etc, but Modi has proved everyone wrong. No Major communal riots have happened under Modi’s rule. Not a single hate speech or even a remote reference which can be called communal
At Sufi meet, Modi lauded Islam as a religion of peace and said “This is the spirit of India. This is the strength of our nation,” he said. “All our people, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Jains, Buddhists, the micro-minority of Parsis, believers, non-believers, are an integral part of India.”
Modi even came out against Gau rakshaks who took law into their hands Modi said , Recalling how Mahatma Gandhi advocated cow protection, “Killing people in the name of Gau Bhakti (cow worship) is not acceptable. This is not something Mahatma Gandhi would approve.”No person in this nation has the right to take the law in his or her own hands in this country,” Modi added.
Modi invited neighboring countries including pakistan to swearing in ceremony ,The guest-list included various heads of the states, political parties and groups along with leaders of SAARC countries. The event is hence viewed as a “major diplomatic event. Modi also visited Pakistan as a gesture of peace and friendship.
Modi united india by pushing for internatinal yoga day which put india and its great cultural contribution to the world , yoga,at the center stage.
Interestingly, as we move towards the end of the 2019 General elections elections, Modi has united all the opposition parties with one agenda. Remove Modi . The common man of India knows who unites and who divides them.
